The Lower Shankill Residents Voice is a unique group of adults and young people who work to remove the obstacles to the right to play in the Lower Shankill estate. Their motto, adopted from the New Orleans communities which were devastated by Hurricane Katrina is ‘Nothing about us, without us, is for us’.
According to government statistics, the Lower Shankill area is among the most deprived areas in Northern Ireland. The Lower Shankill Residents Voice focus on enabling residents to participate meaningfully in decisions that will impact on their lives, particularly in relation to the proposed upcoming urban regeneration of the area.
