PPR have expressed serious concern about the Department for Social Development's proposals for Northern Ireland's first ever Housing Strategy in a response to the DSD "Facing the Future" consultation.

Amongst the Strategy proposals are plans to review how social housing is allocated, with objective need proposed to no longer act as the primary basis upon which decisions are made. Failure to adequately screen the proposals at this stage in line with the equality duties of section 75 also contribute to the inclusion of proposals which will not only fail to address the current inequality in housing, but risk entrenching it further.
